Raquel Nunes

I originally come from a corporate background and practised as an attorney for 12 years. Disillusioned with the corporate world I sought a better quality of life which led me to change my career path into health and wellness, a field which I had always been fascinated with being an avid exerciser and long distance runner.

I became certified as a massage therapist, Pilates, Kettlebell and Indoor Cycle instructor. I have been teaching Pilates since 2008 and believe everyone should do Pilates as I have seen the huge changes which it can make to people’s bodies be it professional athletes looking to enhance performance or ordinary people seeking to improve their strength and flexibility.

Being a Pilates instructor clients naturally ask me for advice about food and nutrition and I always felt the need and desire to study nutrition to be of better service to my clients. Lack of time was always an issue. However, an unexpected crisis in my own health at a time when I was feeling my fittest and strongest forced me to stop and listen to that inner voice. Some of the issues which I faced were terrible digestive problems, a stress fracture and adrenal burnout, the causes of which went undetected for two years despite my search from answers in the medical system. Finally, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and through a complete change in my diet I finally got my health back. My own health challenges forced me to make the time to study what had been placed in my heart years ago.

My health crisis intensified my desire to study nutrition in the hope that I could help others in a similar situation. I elected to study through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating (www.psychologyofeating.com) as their work deeply resonated with me. IPE is the world’s leading school in Nutritional Psychology and through them I received my certification as an Eating Psychology Coach. Through proper nutrition and the application of the principles of Mind-Body nutrition I could overcome many of my own health challenges.

Through IPE’s internationally acclaimed program, I learned powerful cutting-edge tools and protocols that enable me to work with weight issues, body image challenges, over eating, binge eating and a variety of nutrition related health concerns such as digestion, fatigue, mood and immunity. My desire is to help women who have reached their mid-30s and are still battling with weight and body image issues. I employ a combination of practical coaching techniques, psychology, clinical nutrition and body centred practices to help you take your power back over food body image and weight.
